The story behind Puffin sitting pretty
I go to see the puffins every year when they return to the Farne Islands in Northumberland to breed. Usually they are furiously flying, coming in to crash land or dodging the other birds who are waiting to steal their catch of sand eels. This time I saw a puffin just sitting quietly, looking very plump and squeezable, and I so wanted to just pick it up and hug it.
